Is Wondershare DVD Creator Good Enough to Create Video DVD Disc?
After testing, my personal feeling about this software is that overall is good. You can add videos or images for burning to Video DVD disc. If you add images, they will automatically become a video slideshow with background music, allow you to further rearrange the photos and adjust the settings.
Import Videos for Burning
The program will show up four tabs after importing the materials – “Source”, “Menu”, “Preview”, and “Burn”. Under Source, users can select a video and activate the simple video editor, which can crop, trim, rotate, flip, adjust effect, add watermark, and import a subtitle. The ability to add subtitle is usually what users need to care about. Wondershare DVD Creator is only able to add one external subtitle file (SRT, ASS, SSA), and make it hardcoded subtitle. That’s to say, if the movie itself has several soft subtitle tracks and audio tracks, the program will keep the default audio track and no subtitle. Users can only import an external subtitle that can’t be turned off when playing.
Here you can also add more titles, chapters, and adjust the sequence. After the change, the DVD menu structure will also change automatically.
Customize the DVD Menu
Next, we tab Menu, where you can select a DVD menu template and make some settings. From the drop-down list, you will see there are 7 template themes with 70+ templates in total, some of which are pretty good.
We’re going to go in great detail about the menu settings. The canvas ratio can be changed to 16: 9 or 4: 3. The five small toolbar icons enable you to customize the background image, background music, add text, change thumbnail, and create chapters for a title. What’s more, you can adjust the size, style (font), position, and direction of the image frame and text frame. The button style, size, and position can also be customized.
I found this program still has some drawbacks in DVD menu customization. I wanted to set a local image to be the thumbnail. Unfortunately, the picture will auto-fill the whole thumbnail box, which will most likely cause the image ratio change. You can know neither what the correct ratio should be nor set the padding method. Except for those frames, the elements on the background image can’t be deleted. And also, it isn’t able to undo/redo the last edit. There are not many custom settings for the menu, and we can save the project to computer, so this is not a serious problem.
Preview the Result
Wondershare DVD Creator provides the clearest and most intuitive preview interface. This is exactly what the burned disc would look like & react on the DVD player. If your DVD disc were not rewritable, you would better ensure that you are satisfied with the results in the preview, so as not to waste a disc.
