Have you known that Macgo released two of the Blu-ray players for Mac: one is Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player and the other is Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro? In short, Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player is a little better than other common products in this area. Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro is further than that. It is the world’s leading Mac Blu-ray player, which can even say, the world’s best Blu-ray player for Mac.
We have tested Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro, Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player and have written down our review in terms of the Blu-ray playback ability, ease of use, stability, price, and the support. Through this review, you can gain insight into the products if you want to know the difference between them, and want to know more about Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro.
Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro vs Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player
Let’s see the main difference between Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro ($49.95) and Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player ($39.95).
Blu-ray Disc/Format Support: The pro version fully supports playing Blu-ray menu, Blu-ray disc, Blu-ray ISO file, and Blu-ray folder. The regular version partial supports them, meaning that some of the Blu-ray discs are not able to play on the regular version.
DVD/Format Support: Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro supports playing DVD ISO file and DVD folder. The regular version does not.
Video Format Support: Besides being a Blu-ray player, Macgo Mac Blu-ray Pro is a media player. It can play various kinds of the media files up to the 4K resolution, also supports the H.265, H.264 encoding technology. The regular version does not have these features.
A Close Look at Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro
This incredibly powerful product fully supports the Blu-ray disc, BDMV folder, BDAV folder, and Blu-ray ISO image. DVD, VCD, SVCD, and CD are also supported. Can it also act as a regular media player? Yes. I have successfully dragged and dropped the regular video, audio, image files into the program to play.
When a Blu-ray drive with a Blu-ray disc has inserted into the Mac’s USB port, Macgo Mac Blu-ray Pro will automatically start playing the title of the Blu-ray disc. If you don’t want it to do this, you can uncheck “Start playing disc when a disc is inserted” in the “General” settings of this program.
When the short title of the Blu-ray disc is played, the original Blu-ray menu shows up on your Mac screen. This is a huge advantage of Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro. Only two products that can play Blu-ray menus on Mac and Macgo is one of them.
The original Blu-ray menu is so beautiful that the Blu-ray disc publishers generally spend their time designing beautiful and clear Blu-ray menus. If I could not clearly see what the disc contains, it would be a great pity. This is an essential part of enjoying Blu-ray movies. Now I can use the keyboard to select which scene I want to watch, which audio/subtitle track I want to play. Some Blu-ray discs also contain audio commentary, BD-J content and some special features. All of this can be shown on Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro.
Before playing the movie, I have turned on “Enable Digital Audio Output” in the “Advanced” settings to output high-definition Blu-ray audio. Due to the restriction of Mac, E-AC-3, TrueHD, DTS-HD, AC-3, DTS audio can only output 5.1 audio tracks.
The Blu-ray disc is smoothly playing on Mac after I click on the “Play” button. While playing, I can click on the “Pop-up Menu” button to go back to the main menu at any time. I don’t have to do this because I can also click on the text menu to change the Blu-ray scene, subtitle track, audio track, etc. In the whole Blu-ray playback process, the picture and the sound is great and stable. Everything is okay.
Two features that I want to specially mention.
1. If you need to run multiple tasks in the background that use many CPU resources, you can enable hardware acceleration in Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro settings. Macgo’s unique hardware acceleration tech – BluFast MX can reduce RAM and save 20%-50% of the CPU.
2. MacBook Pro has a touch bar and Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro perfectly match the touch bar. Users can operate on it to play, stop, fast-forward or rewind the movie.
Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro Rating
As a conclusion, we rate Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro and simply tell the reasons behind the rating.
Blu-ray Playback Ability: 4.5/5
It supports BD-R 1.1/BD-RE 2.1, BD-R 2.0/BD-RE 3.0, BDROM 2.2, BD-J, BDROM Profile 1.1 (Bonus View), fully maintain the original Blu-ray menu, perfectly shows the FHD Blu-ray picture and outputs high-quality Blu-ray audio. If there is any shortage to say, Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro does not support playing 4K UHD Blu-ray.
Ease of Use: 5/5
The program interface is simple and intuitive. I learned how to use this player by playing a Blu-ray disc myself. The whole process was very smooth.
Price: 5/5
$49.95 for a lifetime license is reasonable. The trial version of Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro has no restriction of the functions. It only shows “UNREGISTERED VERSION Remove Watermark” in the middle of the screen. This gives you a lot of freedom to test this application by yourself before order.
Product Update: 5/5
